Research proposals are written to show the readers how the researched topic will change and progress. The writing of a research proposal focuses on ways to capture and explain concepts in the course of presenting the said proposal.

Components of a Research Proposal

A research proposal is divided into five sections and follows specific structure. Below is a breakdown of how to write a proposal.

Title

The title of your research proposal must capture the readers’ attention and provide the readers with the desired problem to be researched. The title of the proposal should not contain the keywords. A formal title should be around 500 words.

Introduction

An introductory section captures the audience and their reaction to the research proposal. An introduction calls to mind that the research is about your current and future self and highlights the research scope and main approaches. The introduction cannot exceed half a page as it is less than 400 words.

The Problem Statement

This section highlights the research’s background and what the readers should expect to see from your research. The discussion focuses on the research’s relevance and focuses on how the projected aims and objectives will change over time. The title of the paper must avoid complex keywords.

Scope

A research proposal gives a detailed explanation of the study scope.

Research Background

This section highlights the background of the research and highlights major sources of information and research materials for your proposed research. The study scope must be explained adequately so that the reader can get a clear picture of the research’s relevance and methodology.

Research Proposed objectives

In this part, you are required to briefly list the study objectives. What will your research propose to achieve and how it will be tackled? The objectives should be clear as they will be the focus of your research. You should keep the objectives brief and should not be included in the title.

Research Methods

The research methods section discusses the methodologies used and the limitations applied. A research proposal’s research methods section is fixed to a maximum of one page. The research methods section should be two to four pages in length.

Research Design

This section focuses on the research design and shows how it will work. Choose appropriate methods for your research and describe the rationale. The research design should be detailed; it should be accompanied by an informative table.

Limitations

A research proposal restricts the scope of the study to problems that are solvable. A limitation describes a loophole or mistake in your research method. The limitation must not be left out in the body of your paper.

Assessment and Recommendations

There are several ways in which your research can be improved after completing the research. A recommendation sums up the benefits or failures of your research and includes possible action points for the reader to get the same.

References

A reference list needs to be arranged according to the author’s last name. Only have one (1) modern word document for every article.

The end result is that a research proposal should address everything needed by the reader to understand and see why the topic is vital. A research proposal should help the readers to identify the desired topics for the specific field.
